This review is rolling out a little later than I desired. My eyes got infected on expired lenses, through nobody's fault but my own by the way, and I couldn't risk infecting this pair. I had to wait it out.
What I really like about the Air Optix Colors in Pure Hazel is that it translates fully and lightens my eyes. Hazel on dark brown is one of the most difficult colors to achieve, in my experience!

Product Description:
Air Optix Colors is the first silicone hydrogel color contacts in the market, while many color / fashion lenses are still stuck on polymacon. Silicone hydrogel is said to be more "breathable", allowing more oxygen to pass through the lens thus keeping the cornea healthier than regular contact lens would allow.
Air Optix Colors comes in two lines: Subtle and Vibrant. The Subtle Colors are: Pure Hazel, Blue, Green, Gray and Brown while the Vibrant Colors are Honey, Brilliant Blue, Gemstone Green and Sterling Gray totalling 9 color options. Air Optix utilizes a 3-in1 color scheme within the inner ring, primary color and outer ring.
Air Optics Colors in Pure Hazel, Subtle |
Pure Hazel has a warm orange inner ring, pale yellow primary color and black outer ring.
Material: Lotrafilcon B
Diameter: 14.2mm

Powers: Plano to -6.00D (0.25D steps) -6.00 to -8.00 (0.5 steps)

Performance:
Enlargement - At 14.2mm, these are not the smallest lenses I've tried to date but it is the first not to enlarge my eyes. The design is significantly smaller than the actual lens and at this point, only a hair's width of the print overlaps my actual iris.

Comfort - Materially, these do not feel much different from the other lenses I've tried, but maybe that's because my eyes are numb... like my skin. I don't feel any irritation from wearing lenses except for a few moments after putting it on, when there are still air bubbles underneath.
I have noticed that these don't redden my eyes as much and within a 10 hour period of wear-time, I don't find the need for comfort drops.
Color Accuracy / Print - The design looks really light and faint on the lens itself but I have to tip my imaginary hat to the 3-in-1 color technology. It does translate pretty accurately across my dark eyes.
My only issue with these lenses is that the center window seems to be small. The print interferes at the edge of my vision and it only clears up after a couple of hours. My vision is blurry in dim environments. When I look downward, the lenses shift and I can't see anymore... but I think this issue isn't unique to Air Optix.
Edge:
3-in-1 color technology works plus they are "normal size."

Rebuy:
I'm not a regular contact lens wearer but I think it's rare to find regular size lenses and the print is natural so I'll probably only get these when I feel like it. For mere practicality's sake, I still prefer glasses.
I have a pair in Honey from the Vibrant range (Pure Hazel is Subtle) and I'm pretty excited to see the difference between the two browns!
Beauty by Tellie score: 4.75 / 5 - comfortable, truly breathable and well-blended print
Air Optics Colors in Pure Hazel |
These lenses are truly almost perfect. My eyes barely get irritated and Pure Hazel looks interesting yet natural against my coloring. The lenses don't feel like anything when worn, so I feel bad about taking out 0.25 for the center window difficulties.
I've only worn giant circle lenses and those can afford more center window space. It'd be a 5 if I'd adjusted during my 2-week trial period, but I didn't.

I was invited to the Air Optix Colors launch last May 6. We were given our own lens kits for trial. This includes: case, disinfecting solution, comfort drops and Air Optix Colors lenses. I was not paid nor otherwise compensated for this feature.
