Eyebag Coverage Strategy + Rave: Club Clio Kill Cover Pro Artist Liquid Color Concealer + Liquid Concealer

If you knew me at all, you would know that I am the queen of dark eyebags. Nobody can cover them, and even in makeup school everyone dreaded working with me as my eyebags needed too much time and effort.. Eventually, we all just agreed to work on a certain level of coverage so we could focus more on the lesson of the day.

Note: what we normally call "eye bags" should really be called dark circles. Eye bags refer to the fattiness while dark circles more accurately describe what we love to rant about. So to clarify, I am talking about dark circles in this post rather than eyebags, which aren't yet a problem for me.

The problem with my dark circles is that the pigmentation is rather intense. If I put just foundation on it, the darkness still comes through, even with multiple layers. If I go straightaway to applying 2 shades lighter concealer, it actually becomes even more gray and contrasts worse to the surrounding area that has gone light.

The biggest thing here is that I cannot use salmon, as I've come to learn. With my skin tone (medium warm) and intensity of dark circles (very intense) I should go for orange correctors. Using red, which trended some time ago, will not work on me as the rest of my face's skin tone is not deep enough to blend with it. On the other end of the spectrum, salmon is too light and does not have enough 'red' content to fight the blackness, if that makes sense.

Here I used a bit of Clio Kill Cover Pro Artist Liquid Color Concealer in 001 Orange on one eye, so you can see the difference against my bare eye. It doesn't look like it's working, but upon closer inspection, my other eye looks more hollow, sunken and is a completely different color to the rest of my face.

If you do clown contouring, I strongly suggest you try this sheerer usage and see if you like it. Color correcting is supposed to change the undertone of your imperfections, so that your base becomes more unified. When the undertones of your imperfections and the rest of the face are closer to each other, using one shade of foundation over the whole face results in a flawless finish, as opposed to having grey spots peeking though.

If you're painting an unnatural color over your face and topping that with foundation, you're defeated the purpose of color correcting, which is to even out the varying color tones on your face. Clown contouring is just painting a new discoloration over an old one, and would necessitate using foundation thick enough that would have covered your imperfections anyway, even without the corrector.

Clio Kill Cover Pro Artist Liquid Color Concealer in 001 Orange feels a little watery. I would say the texture is close to lightweight concealer. This means you have to apply the next layers in a dabbing motion (don't make brush strokes!) so as to avoid disturbing the product underneath. I would've preferred a darker orange, but honestly, I already love it. It changes my dark circles' undertones well enough and is super easy to blend. That said, I think people with slightly fairer skin tones than me OR with similar skin tones but less severe dark circles will probably have a perfect experience with this.

For the next step, I use concealer that matches my skin tone. I have Clio Kill Cover Pro Artist Liquid Concealer in 3-BY Linen, still on just one eye. I use about this much because this concealer has intense coverage. It's a creamy concealer that I find comparable in both texture and coverage to the NARS Creamy Concealers and Chanel Correcteur Perfections. I absolutely love this concealer, such that when one of my classmates in MUFE Academy used it on me, I immediately asked her what it was and went out to get it. I realized belatedly that she used Luna, but this is a mistake that turned out with a happy ending as I fucking love this concealer as well. On particularly good skin days, I just spread this out from the center of my face once I've covered my circles.

Here I blended it down to my cheeks (yes, with just the product shown above!) so you can see how it covers my redness.

This coverage + texture is just insane. It can hide your lies, cover a murder.. Heck, it can even cover a face only a mother would love. I don't know where I'd be in life without this concealer. *tear*

+ lip color and I'm good to go!

Here's both eyes done! I could have still done more coverage, but personally I prefer to keep only up to this level of coverage. Complete correction makes my face look flat and my eyes look small. It will also require me to wear a heavier base and more eyeshadow, which I don't normally feel like doing.
