Review: Heroine Make Quick Eyebrow Pencil in 01 Dark Brown
This post is part of my Japan 2014 Beauty Series. It's my take on "beauty travel blogging" where I post exclusively about makeup, skincare, fashion and shopping while travelling to another land.

On last year's year-ender trip to Japan, I brought my favorite eyebrow pencil: the KissMe Heroine Make Quick Eyebrow Pencil in 01 Dark Brown. It's fuss-free and perfect for the kind of brows I wanted for my Japan FOTD. Normally, I'd look into a pencil with a built-in spoolie when travelling, but I didn't mind in this case because I never have to use a spoolie when I'm using this pencil!

Php 345 / 0.7g. Heroine Make products are available in many SM Beauty and Watsons' stores.
Product Description:
The KissMe Heroine Make Quick Eyebrow is a cap-less autobrow pencil. It has a very thin lead measuring at only 1.5mm and is about an inch long when fully extended, prior to use.
It comes in three shades: 01 Dark Brown (brunette), 02 Natural Brown (blonde,) and 03 Light Brown (redhead).
How to Use:
Twist to extend the lead, no sharpening needed. Fill in the brows by feathering out multiple hair-like strokes to achieve a natural look.
Performance:
I love this eyebrow product! Of all the auto pencils I've tried (The Face Shop, Ottie and Maybelline,) this lasts the longest. It's even sturdier than my non-automatic K-Palette eyebrow pencil. In fact, I wore this to the Sample Room BBQ knowing it was the only product in my collection that could stand a chance against pool water!
At PHP 345, the Quick Eyebrow holds up really well especially considering I have very fine hair. Brow product longevity goes to shit if you have sparser brows like I do. I feel like it has something to do with having less hair to anchor the product in place or having the makeup exposed and prone to rubbing off- I'm not exactly sure. Anyway,
I love that I found this gem as I can never seem to rely on longevity raves even for widely-appreciated goods like Benefit Brow Zings and K-Palette.
Heroine Make Quick Eyebrow Pencil 01 Dark Brown Swatch |
The thin lead easily defines but the pigmentation spread is just right to make strokes easily look natural, even without a spoolie. 01 is a slightly cool brown, with no hints of excess redness but still not black enough to overwhelm my super sparse lashes. I love it for doing my Korean-style brows!
People who like strong, defined eyebrows might get frustrated with this product. It will take a loooot of swiping to get the intensity for that look and given how thin and short this pencil is, it's just not worth your money.
Lasting Power:
Pristine for around 4 hours, patchy at 6-8 and faded at 10.
Edge:
Extremely affordable, long-lasting, good shade match (01 has no red nor yellow tint)
Rebuy:
Yes, but in the distant future. I have a lot of eyebrow products for review that are okay so I'm using them up. However, I'd like to always have this pencil in this shade on hand as my reliable brow product for special events!
Beauty by Tellie score: 5 / 5 - Trusted by Tellie - love the stiff, thin lead and neutral brown shade!
The problem with non-auto pencils is that they quickly dull and my brows end up looking a hot mess. Unless you're looking at a 15x magnifying mirror and giving it your full attention, it's super easy to go "off the grid" if the lead is too big.
The stiff, 1.5mm lead of the KissMe Heroine Make Quick Eyebrow feels like a consistently sharpened pencil and is a blessing to people who value precision brows.
Additionally, it lasts long and 01 is a great cool brown for people like me who hate seeing tints of red or yellow on the brow.
HOWEVER, I realize I am in love with this product because of the kind of brows I do: natural, wispy and architectured. If you like strong, defined brows, I'd steer you away!
This is a product sample from a self-purchased July 2014 Elite BDJ Box (Heroine Make Exclusive). I was not paid nor otherwise compensated to present this feature. I've previously posted impressions here.
P.S. Sorry for the recycled photos. I couldn't find my brow pencil, GAH! Hoping I can replace these ASAP.
