It's day 6 of Lipstick Week and I thought I'd feature my ultimate everyday shade: Neutral. Specifically, Clinique Long Last Lipstick in Beauty. I don't think I've ever heard other bloggers refer to a Neutral shade family. I just don't know how to describe this! It's not mauve, it's not nude nor brown, not red, fuchsia nor pink, and definitely not a coral. So what is it?! I really don't know but for the purposes of moving on, I'm just going to go with Neutral :)
Bloom Lip Tint in Stain will forever be my MLBB. However, most days I feel like MLBB doesn't cut it. I think I look too washed out, too tired, and I kind of need something more powerful than just my lips for when even the "better" version of it is not enough. On those days, I have my favorite Neutral shade.
Price:
This is part of a gift set from Tita Agnes, one of my aunts who've migrated to the US. I suppose that's why it's on this simpler green tube as opposed to the stylized silver cases I saw on the website. On a side note, I am starting to rethink my "no price on gifts" rule, hmm.
Clinique has stalls in Rustans (Makati, Shangri-La, Alabang, Gateway, Cebu;) Essenses, Rockwell; and boutiques in TriNoma and SM Mall of Asia.
Product Description:
Clinique Long Last lipsticks are advertised as their longest wearing formula although to be honest, Beauty didn't last any longer than any good-quality lipstick.
Beauty is a neutral shade, suiting most lip colors and skin tones. There is a very discreet shimmer that hardly translates upon application. I found out in my Google searches that while Beauty is pretty well-loved, Bamboo Pink is the most raved-about shade in the line. There are a total of thirty shades in the line as of this writing.
How to Use:
Swipe and store! The moisturizing formula and "blendy" shade mean that you don't really have to do a lot of prep and primping.
Performance:
Clinique Long Last does not bleed and applies very easily, almost like a balm. Though unlike a balm, it applies evenly on first swipe and fades discreetly. I could layer this up numerous times and it never feels thick, heavy nor greasy, as most hydrating lipsticks tend to be.
In my experience, hydrating lipsticks feel very slick only on the surface. With Long Last, moisture is on a different level. My lips feel hydrated from within and they remain super soft, smooth and un-chapped hours after the color has faded. I guess that's one of the benefits of supporting a dermatologically-concentrated makeup line!
Lasting Power:
Lasting power is pretty average for a "Long Last" tube, averaging about 4 to 5 hours. I'd say it 30-50% survives meals.
Hydration and perfection on my lips stretch up to about 3 hours even after color has faded. My lips feel perfect for about half the day even with just one, initial application.
Edge:
The line has a wide selection of shades and demonstrates weightless moisture. The shade itself is very universal and great for everyday use.
Rebuy:
Undecided.
Beauty by Tellie score:
4.75/5. It's hard to find a neutral shade, one that doesn't really lean toward any one color such as purple, brown, red, pink or orange. It's neutrality is perfect for everyday use, especially for people like me who don't really care about standing out or people who don't really want to bother with planning a complicated makeup-outfit-accessories harmony. It's a great splash of color and makes you look healthy, but it's not exactly attention-grabbing. I also can't ever let go of how this affects the moisture in my lips.
However, I ranked it a 4.75 because while it seems to be perfect on paper, I don't really feel any particular attachment to this particular shade. It's a great product; I can't stress how much I love the moisture. Yet once it's finished up, I don't think I'll feel compelled to rebuy nor find a dupe for it. I feel uneasy not giving this a 5 because there's nothing really wrong with it, but the uncertain rebuy means I can't put it in the league of Trusted by Tellie just yet.

Forgive the ugly lipstick shape. I've had this for a while and even I'm mystified as to how I got the surface to be that weird wavy shape.
