Smoother Skin With Avène

I had my own hashtag for the Avène launch: #SmootherSkinWithAvene. I was joking with the girls that there was a secret sabotage on me because these are way too many characters on that (22!) and Twitter only allows 140!

With the always pleasant Alyssa of The Glamourtini and Phya of Style Centric. Hi Photobomber Kai!
Eau Thermale Avène is finally here in the Philippines. The first and only product I knew from the brand, prior to attending the launch, was the Thermal Spring Water. I was surprised to find out they have full skincare lines worthy of consideration for the Monthly Skincare Snippets! They have kits for anti-aging, hypersensitive, dry, normal-to-combi, and oily skin types.

For attending the launch, I was given a few items to try, which I've lined up for my June 2015 Skincare Snippets. From left to right:

avene Thermal Spring Water, Very High Protection Cream SPF 50+, Hydrance Optimale Light Hydrating Cream and Gentle Milk Cleanser
Avène kit (L-R): Thermal Spring Water, Very High Protection Cream SPF 50+, Hydrance Optimale Light Hydrating Cream and Gentle Milk Cleanser

Thermal Spring Water (Step 2, optional retouch throughout the day)- The iconic Avène product. It is said that in 1736, a horse from the village of Avène had a skin rash and was set free. He frolicked in the Saint Odille Spring for a while and people found him again with his fur restored. While initially protected by the government for public use, the spring was eventually acquired by Pierre Fabre's group (PEOPLE CAN BUY SPRINGS?!) who was able to clinically verify the benefits of the Saint Odille Spring water. A hydrotherapy facility now rests there, along with a manufacturing plant fed directly by the spring so that the thermal spray canisters are essentially bottled straight from the source, free from contamination and protected from degeneration.

Very High Protection Cream SPF 50+ (Step 4) - The Sun Care range includes a spray and SPF lotions in a similar tube: the VHP Tinted Cream (brown), VHP Emulsion (blue) and VHP Cream (white). The Cream is suited for dry skin (yay!) while the Emulsion is suited for oily skin.

Hydance Optimale Light Hydrating Cream - This moisturizer apparently mimics the eye's moisturizing system. I am not sure what that means but it is basically for normal-to-combi skin as it hydrates yet absorbs excess oil to help mattify. It's a mismatch but I am still going to use it just so I can have a feel of Avene's skincare.

Gentle Milk Cleanser - This is a no-rinse, milky cleanser that is supposed to remove makeup (we'll see) while leaving skin hydrated. In theory, milky cleansers are great for sensitive and dry skin but I normally get irritated with these types of cleansers... out of all things!!!

What I truly find interesting is that despite being known for sensitive skin products, Avène takes it one step further with their Extremely Gentle Cleanser- recommended for hypersensitive skin. This is exciting news for people like my sister, who react on almost all commercial skincare products! I'm not included in this group though, maybe I'm adopted. My skin is pretty... carabao-like in that I rarely break out despite the numerous cosmetics and skincare items I try.

I'm also keeping an eye out for the Eluage line (anti-aging) and the Cold Cream Bar. I wonder if the mildness of the brand will contribute to improving my dry skin or if it will be just another anti-aging line

Beyond these items I get to try, I'm most excited about the Micelle Water. In the past I've always suffered a tradeoff between minor irritation and cleansing powers.  Here's a short clip of the awkwardest turtle talking about her excitement on the Avène Micelle Water:

This is so ghastly I couldn't finish it :< I remind myself of LuluPuppy who can't make eye contact when I scold her for being mean to MimiBasura :(((( But yeah.... Can't wait for the Micelle Water!!!!

P.S. They keep calling me Kaye because I put "K" in my email instead of spelling out Kristel. Didn't bother to correct them.
