EOTD: Shimmery Smokey Eyes with Heroine Make Jewelry Eye Color in 02 Gold Beige
Last April 25, I was invited to Heroine Make's Jewelry Eye Color launch. The Jewelry Eye Color quads come in 4 shade collections. I was given 02 Beige Gold and 04 Rose Garnet to try.

All Jewelry Eye Color quads have the same arrangement. I used 02 Beige Gold for this EOTD and comments apply to that palette. Clockwise from upper left:

A - Lasting Base (primer) - silky, creamy base that has a smooth texture despite having the most shimmer
B - Lighting Pearl (base shade, brightener) - a light tan powder that when used with the base is a bit too orange on my NC 25 skin tone. I feel it can be skin tone for NC 30-35.
C - Nuance Color (crease shade) - a shimmery cool brown powder that registers incredibly warm on me... almost copper
D - Eyeliner Color - a deep taupe-ish brown with specks of glitter powder
On pan, the shades look like they equally have a lot of shimmer. Swatched without the base though, the shimmers don't quite hold up along the darker shades:
I was pretty surprised at how pigmented the shades are. I expected jewel quads not to have such dark dark-shades just going by the fact that the current trend doesn't really favor a deep smoke nor heavy contouring. Also, my first experience with a shimmery Japanese quad is with Majolica Majorca Humming Book I and Majolook Illuminator. There is virtually NO DIFFERENCE between the white and green shade in MMHB I while the darker shades in MI are quite difficult to work with, so I just thought the Japanese didn't like dark shadow shades.
I like that the 'colored' shades of the Jewelry Eye Color are pretty pronounced. I've been on a smokey kick since getting my hair cut and using shimmer shades is a good way to tamp down the intensity of an otherwise severe eye look.
Since this is my first experience with the product, I simply followed the recommended eye map:

CONFESSION TIME: I was actually not going for a smokey look. Once I spread shade B (Lighting Pearl / base) all over my lid, I noticed that shade A (Lasting Base / primer) brought out the tan-ness of B. This is too dark for the 'pearl'-inspired look I was originally going for. I tried to see if I could go with an 'orange pearl' look but shade C (Nuance Color / crease) is also a bit deeper than what I expected.
Summady forgot their lipstick T_T |
Before I end this review, look at this bitchass left eye. When I was doing my makeup, I didn't notice that I wasn't able to blend shade C (Nuance Color) like a normal human adult would. And my fucking low lid just made it all so obvious, uhuhuhu.
Oh well. Just happy that I'm able to take better selfies with my new camera, yahoo!

I'm pretty excited to play around with different eye maps and to see what other looks I can come up with!
