Alcon Dailies Aqua Comfort Plus: A comfort I never knew I needed
Growing up, I always felt that contact lens were a “big people” kind of thing, mostly because I didn’t know a lot of kids who used them. Even those with really high-graded vision would stick to “pwet-ng-baso” sized glasses because contacts are not thought of as kid-friendly.
However, as the Alcon Dailies event wore on and spokespersons Christiana Romano (14) and Gretchen Ho spoke about their active, athletic lifestyles, I realized that young people have more to gain in using contact lenses, especially dailies.
Young people have more active lifestyles
I am but a mere husk of my former self. I struggle past the 5th flight of stairs when I used to be able to play tag literally the whole day! And having developed myopia at age 14, when I was still somewhat childish and playing tag sometimes with my friends, I know it was impossible to run around with glasses.
I never played sports competitively. But today's star athletes were once kids, and if athletic lifestyles are hindered by cumbersome glasses, I'd hate for the next Gretchen Ho to be sidelined just because they got sick of training with eye glasses.
DAILES ARE A COMFORT I NEVER KNEW WE ALL NEEDED
I was initially not impressed with the thought of disposable lenses. All lenses are technically disposable. But I wore a pair during the event. Went on to play darts. Went home. Threw them out.
And never had to worry about a sterile case, nor contact lens solution.
It may not seem like much, but to a makeup-wearing contact lens wearer who often risks midday irritation, THIS. WAS. GROUNDBREAKING. It never really sunk in to me what a hassle it was to worry about these things until I didn't have to. And for younger people who are less patient with self-care, I think using ultra-convenient dailies is a huge benefit!
You don't need drops either
Apart from solution, another part of my lens kit is the eye drops. Alcon Dailies lenses have blink-activated moisture to keep them fresh and comfy throughout the day. I was tired, the weather was scorching that day, and I did a lot of work on the laptop that I'm sure made me blink less. They felt fine! Disclaimer that my eyes tend to not get too dry, but I can only speak of my own experience and these didn't need drops on a 12-hour day.

As for me, I was a little remorseful that I picked up GCs for the colored lenses given that they were my comfort zone. It was only after taking my Dailies off that I realized I should have stuck with the Dailies GCs T_T
