Club Clio Kilig: Kill Cover Conceal-dation in 4-BO Ginger and Mad Matte Lips in 05 Russet Rose
I brought back precisely three things from Club Clio in Korea back to the Philippines: a glass nail file, the Kill Cover Pro Artist Liquid Color Corrector in Orange and the Kill Cover Pro Artist Liquid Concealer in 3-BY Linen. I feel like there should have been more??? I'm pretty intense about Club Clio: I feel like their good stuff is really good. Everything from Kill Cover Brows to Peripera Lip Inks have such convincing raves. It's funny to think it all started with mistaken identity.
In Makeup Academy, Seojong-Unnie tried the KC Pro Artist Liquid Concealer on me and I fell in love at first sight. She further used a creamy, full-coverage yet breathable base that I thought was also Kill Cover (but turned out to be Luna.)
Carrying this torch for both the concealer and base in my heart, I was code red DEAD upon seeing the Clio Kill Cover Conceal-dation in 4-BO Ginger (Php 1650) smack dab in front of Club Clio in TriNoma. I already have a great image of their foundation, an even better one of their concealers, but to put them together in one product had me like.
I took the darkest shade, 4-BO Ginger. It's a little orange on me. I still wonder if I should have gotten the 3-BY Linen (my concealer shade) because that has a bit of highlighting effect on me but my pale face can't really afford to go any shade up because my neck is already about 20 shades darker. The way I use it works fine for now, so I'm not sad at all about this purchase.
Conceal-dation is a creamy, liquid foundation that offers ultra-high coverage. I've had trouble applying the Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation, and this seems easier by comparison. It doesn't dry as fast and is easier to blend, because it is a little bit airier in texture than the ELDW. Staying power is pretty good also, but I hesitate to compare it with ELDW for now because my skin during the ELDW trials was so bad.
Side story: I never used to cared much for high-coverage foundations. I always thought I was too pretty for them (hahaokno) and that I was too young for ~intense~ makeup. Lately though, in my pro career, I've realized that a high-coverage foundation is all you need! You can sheer it out and it looks much better than an already-sheer foundation. You can also pile it on if the look calls for it. It's just easier.
Which is why even though I'd been seeing Conceal-dation in Korea, I never paid much attention to it. I was even more drawn by the cute sponge + case free gift rather than the actual product, to be honest. But now I've seen the error of my ways. Don't judge. We were all young and innocent once.
As for Mad Matte Lips in 05 Russet Rose (Php 750,) there's not much of a story to it. I'd only been eyeing it since what feels like forever from one of my friends. I remember asking her once, twice and I don't know how many times, but every time she wore it I thought it looked soooo good.
Russet Rose is a siliconey, powder matte. It feels exactly like my high end mattes, but the pigment doesn't look as heavy. I don't know if it's just because the shade has some similar undertones to me, but it feels a little less opaque. That said, I'm still a huge fan and will probably get a lighter pink shade to rotate with this more intense rose shade.
You can check here for my very awkward first impressions on FB live. You will actually see how much coverage the Conceal-dation offers since I used a little bit too much. I'm also doing some shitty Korean in that vid, I'm not native so bear with me.
