New in my Kit: MUFE Artist Color Shadows
Last March 21, I went to Make Up For Ever in SM Megamall for an exclusive PRO secrets PRO Tribe party! Certified Makeup Artist and Trainer Maws Francisco-Diaz shared a few cool tricks she picked up in various countries, and the team shared with us a sneak peek of the latest Make Up For Ever Artist Color Shadows (PHP 950 / 2.5g). Along with the shadows, the brand also launched their new Artist Color Palettes that come in 5 sizes.
The shadows come in "86 intense shades, 5 highly blendable finishes, 12 hour wear... Available in 5 different finishes including Matte, Metallic, Diamond, Satin and Iridescent." These are supposed to be more intense and long-wearing, though I have been picking up grumblings from older MUAs that the formula allegedly degraded yet sold more expensive. This is false, they sell for cheaper now, according to Christine of Temptalia (USD 17 for the new ones vs 21 for the older ones). As for the quality, I will be able to see as I am still working off of my old kit.
Of the old formula, my favorites were the mattes. This time, I have a taupe matte (M 540) and two diamonds (D 712, a rose gold with silver glitter; and D 826, a cranberry with pink and silver glitter) to try. I am pretty excited to use them as I feel I got really trendy shades! Or maybe I'm just a sucker for shimmers and glitters these days.
Other than that, I was pretty stoked to try some new hacks. Maws was gracious enough to share some pretty crazy ones she learned while training all around the world.
She says she stocks 3 bottles of Mist & Fix (setting spray) that has 3, 6, and 10 drops of Aqua Seal (water proofer) in each. She learned in Indonesia, a fellow tropical country that also expertises in bullet-proof makeup, that mixing Aqua Seal with Mist & Fix helps the makeup last that much longer. There is a potential for irritation though, that's why she keeps three concentrations.
She also taught us new ways to use the Ultra HD Skin Booster and Ultra HD Lip Booster. The Skin Booster can be used to smoothen cracks and holes in foundation! This is a godsend especially since I always want to create the thinnest yet most flawless base. On the other hand, using the lip booster with a spoolie is a pretty great way to get excess skin off the lip. This is an awesome hack since there are people (me) whose chapping is so bad that lip balm often doesn't cut it.
