Foundation Week 1/7: Best BB - Make Up For Ever UV Bright Cushion SPF 35 PA+++ in Y225
As I said in my previous post, experimenting with my foundations has inspired me to create a Foundation Week tag. The post schedule is listed below, and I hope anyone reading this who feelsl like going through their foundation stash can participate, link me in the comments and let me know what you think!
My absolute favorite thing about the Make Up For Ever UV Bright Cushion SPF 35, PA+++ in Y225 (KRW 58 000 / PHP 2400) is that it addresses the biggest criticisms of BB cushions while delivering their best qualities. I love to use this BB cream when I want a chok-chok, fresh and dewy look, even when I feel a little ugly for the day!
You know how you have days when you wake up feeling fug? Maybe your skin is dull, or you have red spots, then your foundation choices get limited. This cushion is not an automatic NO on those days! It's comparable to one of my all-time faves, Laneige Snow BB Cream #21, except Laneige is a little bit stickier in texture.
Finish
First, what it gets right from traditional BB creams: it has that amazing dewy look even when it sets. Typical BB creams bring the glow, but at the price of heaviness and stickiness. Even Laneige tends to feel rich to me sometimes. MUFE's formulation is very watery so it can suit even combination-skinned gals, and dare I say oily-skinned girls. Don't take my word for it though, I have very dry skin.
It stops feeling wet very quickly, and I like how it retains that glow even when it feels dry.
Color Range and Coverage
What turns me off most BB creams is that they're sticky, extremely pale and leave a deathly gray pallor of a white cast. I like that MUFE UV Bright uses 5 of MUFEs regular shade range. Y225 is yellow enough, and formulating it with SPF 35 as opposed to the standard 50 doesn't leave me with that ghostly, espasol chic look - it's the SPF that causes flashback and makes you look gray.
Of all the BB creams I've tried, this has the "realest" coverage. BB creams tend to be a little on the sheer side, but you can see on my swatch that it has coverage. It's semi-buildable from sheer up to a medium but doesn't really get up to full.
Lightweight
MUFE UV Bright feels almost like non-creamy liquid foundation. The carrying formula is thin and watery which makes it a breeze to blend. I remember using this at the height of my full-coverage foundation addiction, and I was floored by how fast BB application is in contrast to foundation application. Especially this particular BB
Conclusion: 4.75 / 5 - A BB cream above the cut, and would buy again.
I love the idea of BB creams. My dull, dry skin has the most to gain from this exact foundation formulation. Unfortunately, color and coverage have always been an issue for me. I love how Make Up For Ever UV Bright Cushion doesn't leave me with a white cast, which I used to think of as an unnecessary evil when it came to BB creams! I'm scoring it a 4.75 though because it's not that long lasting. All else considered, I think it wears down nicely and outperforms a lot of BB creams. I would buy it again!
