Estee Lauder Pure Color Love Lipstick 260 Sky High and 400 Rebel Glam
Last 22 July the PV Girls were there for Estee Lauder's SM Makati Boutique Grand Opening and Lipstick Party! They're releasing the Pure Color Love Lipsticks (PHP 1250, 25 shades, 4 finishes) and it's meant to be their entry-level lippies. PHP 1250 for entry-level sounds ridiculous, but you are getting entry-level for Estee, which is a pretty high standard.
Just look at these cases T_T I'm all for this acrylic base, magnetically sealed with a jutting chrome button, which is the actual lipstick HUHU T_T
The four finishes are Ultra Matte, Shimmer Pearl, Edgy Creme and Cooled Chrome. The PV ladies did an FB live with a sort of swatching parade of the 25 colors, which you can view here.
The chrome finishes are so edgy! They're like these metallic toppers and suit soo many 'regular' shades. I think it's important to choose both a color and finish you like, because it can be quite jarring to swatch a matte and then suddenly pick up a shimmer (from the same line, with the same packaging) and think the formulation must be inconsistent. It's not- it's just their basic line so I guess they're trying to make all their finishes accessible all in one go.
I have Sky High (shimmer) and Rebel Glam (matte) to swatch today:
#260 Sky High was sooo intimidating at first. It's a very Barbie coral, with a little bit of milky tones, WHICH HAS NEVER WORKED ON MY WORMY LIPS. Swatching it on my skin, it has medium pigmentation (buildable, from the low to the high end of medium) and medium shine. On my lips however, the shimmer is more obvious, which I looove for my recent default look: pabebe fresh.
I've long had a desire to try Barbie pinks but have always ended up with something too milky. I highly recommend this shade for light-medium skin tones, who feel the same way!
#400 Rebel Glam is a fucking dead-serious matte. Thank you to whoever decided to go with a chisel-tip lipstick bullet, because I would have otherwise needed a lip pencil, which I hate for reviews and everyday life, tbqfh. I did an Instagram story on these lippies and I got so many compliments on Rebel Glam, even though personally I liked Sky High more.
I did my shoot before church and was too late to change my lippie, so I ended up wearing Rebel Glam for the rest of the night. It's not a silicone-y matte, but it is still par for the course when it comes to comfortable mattes. It applies evenly, easily, and doesn't pull nor tug at the lips. It simply glides like whoop! It stayed through dinner with me, but that's just one time and I have this weird mutation of keeping lip colors on for way longer than average, so I'm not pinning down any particular longevity to this formula - yet. I recommend this orchid-fuschia to everyone and their moms, because it looks (to me) like it will match a wide range of skin tones.
